- System summary:
-
- Amiga 2000, Bigfoot Power supply, Toaster, Flyer, GVP G-Force, 2 mb chip
- ram, 16 mb fast ram.
-
- Originally had a 340 mb Quantum as my system drive with Workbench, Toaster
- & Flyer software installed on it. The drive was mounted directly on the
- G-Force.
-
- Just bought a 1 gig Quantum Fireball to take over as my system drive. Have
- done the following:
-
- Moved the 340 mb drive off the G-Force on to the empty bay beside the
- floppy drive. Set it's SCSI ID to #1 & left it terminated as the last
- drive on the chain. (The G-Force manual indicates the card itself is
- terminated as the first device in the chain). The G-Force ID is pre-set to
- 7, so no conflicts there that I can see.
-
- Set SCSI ID for the Fireball to #0 & removed the termination as the middle
- device in the chain. Installed Workbench on the new drive after format,
- then started transferring files from the 340 mb drive to clear it out. The
- idea is to completely blank out the old drive & use it solely to render
- Lightwave RGB images to, with the new Fireball acting as the system drive.
-
- The problem is I can no longer do a warm boot. The monitor screen remains
- white ( no Workbench appears), the hard drive light for the Fireball
- remains on with no audible disc activity occurring. Finally turned the
- power off, let it sit a minute & did a cold boot. Workbench appears & all
- is well. Can access both drives (named "Video" for the Fireball &
- "Lightwave" for the 340 mb drive) without any problems.
-
- Why can I no longer do a warm boot? Did I mess up something with the ID's
- or termination? Is it bad to leave a copy of Workbench on BOTH drives. If
- so, should I delete the Workbench on the old drive. If so, how do I go
- about this?
-
- Any insight is most appreciated.
-
- Thank you.
